"Sometimes it feels like everyone in the world has read the manual of life, but I just missed the briefing. This hypothesis, and the probability that everyone feels this way, excites and frees me to openly explore seemingly fixed infrastructures and rusted power-dynamics."

Noa Jansma (1996, Amsterdam) is an international exhibited multidisciplinary artist who investigates commonly accepted cultural beliefs by challenging their validity or purpose through seemingly naive questions. Her often conceptual work focuses on the relationship between humans and their (ecological) environment, using food as both a subject and a medium. The questions she raises often intersect philosophy, the material-spiritual duality, and politics resulting in diverse outcomes such as culinary performances, video installations, and educational programs.
In her work she often explores how bodies, the environment and social systems are the same. She is curious how the invisible influences the visible and how the immaterial and material shape each other. She enjoys seeing the universe manifest in mundane things such as eating, walking, applepies, grass, kitchens and guts. There are little limits concerning the media she uses. She uses interactivity (digital or culinary) to make people, and herself, curious about their own life and question how their participation carries ethical weight, multilayered narratives and fluid realities. Her works arise out of frustration, confusion or fascination.
